And can totally relate AT EVERY STAGE of the novel writing process of that desperate urge to seek outside validation - has never gone away for me but I've got much better at, as you say, finding 'other ways to keep going'. Often now that's having kind of adjacent conversations - about the work, the writing process, what I'm finding difficult - without having to share early words.
