Thank you for commenting on my sister, that's lovely.
That's interesting about your book collection. So in a year of reading, roughly how many books would you be hanging onto? I rather like the ruthlessness, as well as the clear logic of that system!
Maybe 5-6 books per year? Often they’ll be ‘special’ paper copies of books I read and loved on Kindle or from the library too - Eg so far this year I read When The Dust Settles and The Cartographers both in hardback from the library and bought paper copies of both when they came out in paperback to put on my shelf.
I try to keep al my books and would love bookshelves like that! I've been made to give many books away but I do keep a record of what I have read - in word documents and in notebooks.
Thank you! I usually have my yearly notebook next to my computer - it will have sections for challenges, and then I have it divided into months so I can count yearly and monthly totals, plus a general notebook for all books read. Same with word documents. It's a lifesaver when people want to know what I read or for reading round up posts. I hope I get my bookshelf dreams too. I did have a system to at least keep series and authors together but that kind of broke down.
A big bookshelf like yours is on my bucket list but as we currently live on a boat that’s not going to happen anytime soon. For the same reason give away books as I read them, leaving an army of booklovers in my wake ❤️📚
So glad to hear your sister is on the mend! 95% of the books I own are unread; I tend to only keep books I love or have had signed.

How wonderful that both libraries and bookshops are involved in this process of creating a "love" collection.
Oh that handwritten catalogue is so beautiful. What a thing to have.
Thanks Keris, it feels lovely to share it with people and have it appreciated.

I wish I could stick at record-keeping. Hope you fulfil your bookshelf dreams one day!

Living on a boat is on my bucket list! Speaking of books and boats, have you ever seen the London book barge "Word on the Water"?
Ooh, that sounds like my kinda boat!
