Excellent post! We need to band together in terms of coverage of children's literature. I hope my reviews go some way to helping, I'm still trying to work out what else to do though.
Writers such as yourself and podcasters and bookstagrammers are absolutely essential to the industry, thank you! One thing I'd love to see more of (although this isn't a hint for you, just shooting the breeze) is general commentary to supplement reviews - longer articles about several books or authors, think pieces I suppose.
Yes - I have been trying to think of longer articles as well - I know I want to do it, and have always wanted to - but working out my topics is where I sometimes get stuck. General commentary would be fantastic, and is something that I hope we can see more of. Maybe I could work on some genre think pieces to start. Kind of like I have done with my advocacy writing with Cancer Council - start broad with writing, topics, and research, and then as I go, it gets specific and local. (Different area, but that's our aim - start broad and bring it back to Cancer Council NSW and where we have it, local stories for our area).
"...children’s authors are too often addressed as if we’re providing a service that is removed from the general craft of writing" - I'm really passionate about this issue. I have a book coming out in September around appreciation of the craft of picture books. May I perhaps pick your brain at some point about ways to promote it? Meanwhile, happy new year!

You would have such a fantastic broad view of what's being published, I'm sure you could find patterns of interest for longer pieces.
Thank you - I just need to choose a starting point now.
